Exciting Times Ahead!

Hey friends. We want to let you know in advance. We’re going to be away from the computers for a little while, up to our elbows in dough. Literally.

We’ve got some great friends who are doing some great things and we’re bringing them some great treats to keep them fueled up. Here are the details… More

Office Holiday Parties

Office Holiday Parties

Tis the Season for Office Holiday Parties. Whether it’s a year-end fundraiser, a gathering of employees, or a happy hour to celebrate the holidays, people are gathering.

Last week we were asked to be a part of Choice USA‘s Holiday Party for the 2nd year. This fine organization mobilizes and provides ongoing support to the diverse, upcoming generation of leaders who promote and protect reproductive choice both now and in the future. We were delighted to give a repeat performance of sweet and treats for the staff, board and supporters of this important work. More

Hannukah

Hannukah

We wanted to take a minute and wish everyone a Happy Hannukah.

While this holiday is not the most important holiday to the Jewish people, it does get a lot of publicity due to the timing and proximity to Christmas. Hannukah is about freedom, dedication and standing-up for what you believe. So for those who don’t know about this holiday, here’s my short version of the story: More

Holiday Cookies

Holiday Cookies

One of the most fun things we get to do when menu planning is design cookie packages. We like to lay them all out on the table, see what we’ve got, then put them together into themes. Like any good baker, or Grandma, we have A LOT of cookie cutters. Shapes, figures, people, animals and we just got more.

Just this past weekend, my Mom woke me at 8am on Black Friday and said “Get dressed. We’re going to Bed, Bath & Beyond”. In order to get the good deal, we had to arrive before 10am. Coffee in hand we made it in time to get 20% off our entire purchase. We put our discount to good use getting lots of little things like extra measuring cups, silicone brushes for painting chocolate at high temperatures, pizza cutters (for dough), and Silpats.

As we walked up and down the kitchen section my eyes grew wider and wider. My Mom leaned in and said, “Does Grassroots Gourmet celebrate Hannukah? Cause your Dad & I would love to buy the bakery a gift!”

We are now the proud owners of 65 brand new cookie cutters, for the holidays, for kids, for always. Thanks Mom & Dad.

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving 2010

After launching our Thanksgiving menu we got right down to business. We had about 3 days to practice our newest recipes. So we turned on the oven and the house quickly became filled with Mini Pumpkin Whoopie Pies, Apple Cider Donut Holes and lots of friends stopping by to sample the goodies.
