About Us

Hey Folks! Welcome to our site. We’re Sara and Causten. For us, being in the kitchen is as fulfilling as organizing for progressive issues. We believe that work in the halls of congress, work on the streets, and work in the office can be sustained by our work in the kitchen. We are organizers for peace and justice who are baking for change.

We remember sitting in our fair share of meetings, trainings and strategy sessions and we know the difference that good food makes. So we are here to nourish the work of this fine movement with food for the soul.

Being in the kitchen is our downward-dog. It’s up there in greatness with reading on the beach, hot coffee on a fall day,  or sunshine through the sunroof of your car. This is our moment to take care of ourselves and care for the organizers of this movement.  We’ve done political work and we have  come to understand that we can continue our passion for cooking and still be a part of something great. We can do both and that’s what Grassroots Gourmet is. Yep, we’re just two young progressives who want to feed the revolution… literally!

We understand the desire to use resources to support local and really amazing food, but that the opportunity to do so isn’t always readily available. For this we are offering a catering company that is tailored to meet the needs of the people and organizations doing political work. In developing our business and menu we took into account the needs we experienced when working for political organizations. We’ve considered quality, cost, convenience, your needs, and deliciousness. We’re the bakery that is born of our progressive values so that organizations can support a community business and people they know.

Our food is baked with love and we hope that you can share it with friends, family, and co-workers. Break cake with your neighbors… and get it from us!
